Herb & Shrimp Orzo

Looking for a quick and simple dish that everyone will love? Try this easy pasta dish!

This simple recipe combines pasta, shrimp, and asparagus for a well-balanced and delicious meal! The recipe is great for the whole family or can be made with the intention of meal prepping. Feel free to toss in any other veggies that you like for a little extra fiber and nutrients! I personally like mine with some chopped spinach and a little bit of red bell pepper!

Herb & Shrimp Orzo

Makes 4 Servings | 25 minutes



  • 2 Tbsps Extra Virgin Olive Oil

  • 1/2 Yellow Onion (medium, chopped)

  • 4 Cloves Garlic (minced)

  • 1 Cup Orzo (dry)

  • 2 Cups Water

  • 1 1/2 Cups Asparagus (trimmed, cut into bite-sized pieces)

  • Sea Salt & Black Pepper (to taste)

  • 1 Lb Shrimp (peeled, deveined)

  • 1 Lemon (juiced and zested)

  • 1/4 Cup Parsley (chopped)


  1. Heat a dutch oven (or stockpot) over medium heat, add the oil. Once hot, add onion and sauté until softened (about 3-5 minutes). Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.

  2. Add the orzo and stir until slightly toasted, about 1 minute. Add the water, asparagus, salt and pepper. Cover and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. Remove the lid, and add the shrimp. Cook for 5 minutes or until pink and cooked through. Add the lemon juice, zest, and parsley.

4. Plate and enjoy!
